A millennial visit

The last time this comet passed through the earth humanity was in the Paleolithic, Neanderthals still roamed the earth, and the first settlements were created, it basically takes forever to happen, but we will start to see it from January 12 until February 1.

The name of this comet is C/2022 E3 ZTF, named after the Zwicky Transient Facility, in San Diego California, detected in the same direction as Jupiter, but millions of kilometers from our Sun.

Said comet has a diameter of about one kilometer, something small in the vastness of the universe, now as we said before it will pass close to the earth and will be visible, you will be able to distinguish it by its greenish tail, and it is the best way to identify it because it cannot be You know what the brightness will be, in the northern hemisphere we can see it at midnight and at dawn, we recommend using binoculars or a telescope.

There is a powerful reason why you will not want to miss the event, the first is that it happens every 50,000 years, the second is that its small size is getting smaller and smaller, this is because it is losing part of its body every time it closer to our sun, in other words, the little guy may not survive the passage of our solar system.

The comet will reach perihelion on January 12, which is more or less 166 million kilometers, and its approach and closest approach to Earth will be on February 1, more or less 42 million kilometers, it will be the best time to view.

It could be that the small comet E3 ZTF will pass through our solar system in another 50 thousand years, or not. Since the gravitational force exerted by our sun could permanently expel it from the solar system.

It is small and for the same reason it can pale in comparison to other comets such as Hale Bopp or Neowise, due to its size, but rest assured that it will continue to be a spectacle worth appreciating; so we recommend not to miss it.
